Cake Smash photography originated in the US but proud parents in Scotland can’t get enough of the amazing keepsake photos that this trend produces and at Forever Timeless are experts in getting the best shots possible of your baby.
The recipe is simple. Take one 12-month-old baby, a few props, and a gooey cake – and let them dig in. Don’t worry about the mess, after your baby has enjoyed their cake and we’ve got all the shots we need your little one can get cleaned up in a bubble bath in our gorgeous tin bath afterwards, so they are all clean for heading home. We can also capture these bath shots too so you’ve got those to treasure forever too.
Themes
We can chat with you prior to the photo session to come up with a theme and plan your session from there. We will providethe backdrop, a happy birthday banner and pink or blue balloons. We ask that you bring the cake and any additional props or outfits you’d like photographed. We love to start a cake smash session the same as any other photo session so we can take some nice, posed studio shots with on our range of backgrounds before we start the messy part.
During this time there will be an opportunity to capture an updated family shot as well as lots of candid shots of baby.
A cake smash photo session is often the first time your baby will have tasted cake or sweet treats and capturing that moment on camera is just priceless. The expressions your baby makes make perfect wall art to adorn your home for many years to come.

- Does it matter if my baby has never had cake before?

Not at all! We will capture gorgeous portraits of your little one exploring and experimenting with the cake as well as eating it. For some babies this is a sensory activity more than anything else. Some babies love to smear the icing on themselves, some stick their faces right in others are more tentative. But whatever your baby does we will encourage them to play with the cake so we can get some sweet portraits of them.
- Do you recommend a specific type of cake?

No, it’s completely up to you what you bring, it can be a specially designed cake or one from a supermarket its your choice.
- Should I bring a change of clothes?

We recommend that parents wear clothes they don’t mind getting messy and that they bring bubble bath or soap for baby, a change of clothes and a towel for their baby as after the cake smash, we get baby in our tin bath to get them all clean again.
- Do you sell digital files?

Yes,we do, and digital packages are available. However, please note that taking the photographs is only a part of the process in creating the art which will hang in your home.
I enhance all chosen images by removing scratches, marks and flaky newborn skin, tweaking colours and using other post-production techniques. Every digital image gets the same attention to detail and enhancements that the printed photos or canvases do too.
